Little Girl with a Large Heart

22nd November 2019

Abbi is just 7 years old, yet she has a compassion for those down on their luck beyond her years. Always encouraged by her family to think of others and how she might be able to help when things are tough for people, she has previously saved up some of her pocket money to buy a sleeping bag for a homeless person. As a Brownie in Welford on Avon, and in her quest for her Charity Challenge badge, she was aware of the homeless on the streets in Stratford and wanted to help them. Abbi said, “I wanted to help the Foodbank because I feel sad for people who are hungry and don’t have food every evening”. So, she did some research and set about making a short video asking people to donate to her cause over a period of two weeks. Abbi distributed her video and had a fantastic response from friends and family, including donations from family members in South Africa who bought some groceries online and sent them to her as well as a collection from her church, Renewal Stratford.

Abbi delivered these donations to the Tesco store manager who has passed them on to us. We would like Abbi to know that we think she is an inspiration and that her compassion and care for others is something we would love to see more of. She is an excellent role model for children and young people, and we thank her from the bottom of our hearts for the wonderful donation she has made to the Foodbank, and therefore the help she has given to some of the families struggling in Stratford.

Abbi collected donations for the Foodbank for her Charity Challenge badge at Brownies.
