Volunteer

Volunteers are the life blood of foodbanks. Your skills could be just what we need.

Volunteers are the driving force behind foodbanks. There are thousands of volunteers across the UK, helping The Trussell Trust Foodbank Network get emergency food to people in crisis. We want you to enjoy volunteering and there are lots of ways to get involved. Whatever role you choose, you will make a real difference to the life of someone in crisis. You’ll be part of a friendly team and will get full training.

Supermarkets Coordinator

We are looking for a volunteer with excellent communication and team playing abilities to help. us manage and develop relationships with local supermarkets. This role will facilitate the smooth flow of food donations, maximise fundraising/volunteering opportunities and raise the Foodbank’s profile. The Supermarkets Coordinator (SCC) will form part of a team of 4 collection coordinators which also includes volunteers taking care of churches, schools and  businesses. Work will be undertaken in the volunteers own time but some daytime availability for occasional meetings would be useful. The SCC will serve on the Foodbank’s Committee, (which usually meets every 6-8 weeks on a Thursday at 4pm) and will provide a very brief written report ahead of that meeting . The SCC will work closely with the foodbank manager and  liaise with an existing volunteer who manage a rota of volunteers collecting food from various supermarkets across the local area. Time Commitment: allow a min 2-6 hrs/week with the potential for more involvement around supermarket collection dates if convenient. Some daytime availability is useful.

 Cleaners

Stratford upon Avon Foodbank is looking to add to its existing team of weekly cleaners. Our cleaning team are buddied up in pairs and come in on a Monday between 10 and 4 , for an hour or so, to give the distribution cabin a good clean. Cleaning work includes window cleaning, mopping floors, cleaning table and counter tops, amongst other similar duties  Volunteers usually commit to one Monday a month although more slots may be available if you wish to do more than that.  The foodbank provides all cleaning materials and we will show you exactly what needs to be done.

Drivers

We are looking for a volunteers to register with the foodbank as ‘drivers’ to support the movement of food across the local area. This work does not involve a regular commitment but simply an indication that, when we have driving work, we can email you to see if you might be able to help. This role will require the use of your own vehicle and may include taking food from our cabin next to Tesco to foodbank partners in Coventry, the Cotswolds or Birmingham, or bringing it back from these locations. You will work closely with our volunteer who takes care of our ‘food share’ work responding to her email requests for help when convenient with you.

Referral Agency Liaison Assistant

Four to eight hours required to support the (Volunteer) Agencies Coordinator (and the Foodbank Manager in maintaining, and developing the Foodbank’s relationships with their Referral Agency partners. This work will involve email, phone, and face to face communication. Must be an excellent communicator, team player and be able to offer some day time availability.
