Volunteers are the life blood of foodbanks. Your skills could be just what we need.

Volunteers are the driving force behind foodbanks. There are thousands of volunteers across the UK, helping The Trussell Trust Foodbank Network get emergency food to people in crisis. We want you to enjoy volunteering and there are lots of ways to get involved. Whatever role you choose, you will make a real difference to the life of someone in crisis. You’ll be part of a friendly team and will get full training.

Volunteer Coordinator – Volunteer Position

Stratford upon Avon Foodbank is looking for a volunteer to support the Foodbank Manager with the Foodbank’s growing volunteer register and to undertake volunteer coordination as required. The majority of this voluntary work can be undertaken in the volunteers own time, but some daytime availability for occasional meetings is helpful. Given the importance of this role the Volunteer Coordinator will also serve on the Foodbank’s Management Committee. A key element of this work will involve monitoring the Foodbank’s Volunteer Gmail account, responding
to volunteer enquires and ensuring volunteer records within the account are kept up to date. The volunteer coordinator will also process new volunteer application forms and check references. The Volunteer Coordinator works closely with the Foodbank Manager, and should allow at least 10-12 hours a week. The level of activity may vary depending on whether there is a recruitment drive going on. It is hoped that the volunteer coordinator could check the gmail account once every 2 days, cover will be arranged for holidays etc. This position would be suitable for all volunteers, either new to the foodbank or already volunteering with us. If you are interested in this hugely rewarding role please read the detailed volunteer role description and email Marion Homer (the Foodbank Manager) on volunteer.suafoodbank@gmail.com stating reasons for suitability. Training Coordinator – Volunteer Position
Stratford upon Avon Foodbank is looking for a volunteer to support the Foodbank Manager and Volunteer  Coordinator (voluntary position) with the Foodbank’s growing volunteer list, recording, and coordinating their training requirements. The majority of this voluntary work can be undertaken in the volunteers own time, but some daytime availability for occasional meetings is helpful. A volunteer is needed to arrange training sessions, NB this does not mean running training sessions, see full description for more information. The Training Coordinator works closely with the Foodbank Manager and Volunteer Coordinator, and should allow at least 8 – 12 hours a week. The level of activity will vary depending on whether there is a recruitment drive going on. We would hope that emails could be monitored twice a week, cover will be arranged for holiday etc.This position would be suitable for all volunteers, either new to the foodbank or already volunteering with us. Most importantly the volunteer will need to be an excellent team player with good interpersonal skills and able to deal confidently and calmly with a wide variety of people, face to face, by phone and by email.  If you are interested in this hugely rewarding role please ad the detailed role description and email Marion Homer (the Foodbank Manager) on volunteer.suafoodbank@gmail.com stating reasons for suitability. We are looking for volunteers to help at our food distribution sessions. Volunteers will greet our clients, chat with them, offer them signposting information and provide them with a food parcel. Full training will be provided at taster sessions. Suitable volunteers will be flexible team players, have passion for helping those in need and be abe to handle confidential information with discretion. The work will be carried out at our Foodbank Distribution Cabin on the carpark at Tesco on Stratford’s Birmingham Road. Sessions  run on Monday 5-6.30pm ,Tuesday 12 – 2pm, Thursday 5 – 6.30pm and Friday 12- 2pm at our Foodbank Cabin next to Tesco on the Birmingham Road.

Warehouse Box Packer

We are looking for volunteers for the role of Box Packer. As a Box Packer, you will work in partnership with a second box packer to collate food parcels to give to clients at a distribution session. You must have availability to help at least once a month at one of the following sessions Mon 4.30pm – 6.45pm, Tues 11.30am-2.15pm, Thurs 4.30pm – 6.45pm, or Friday 11.30am – 2.15pm.  Volunteering will be carried out at our Foodbank Distribution Cabin on the carpark at Tesco on Stratford’s Birmingham Road. Light lifting, twisting and bending will be required.

Warehouse Team Leader

As a WH TL, you will oversee our warehouse sessions, guiding a small team of volunteers as we collect food from the Tesco distribution basket, label, weigh and shelve it. You will also be meeting donors as they bring food donations to our warehouse and ensure stock rotation is managed.

Warehouse General Volunteer

We are looking for volunteers to assist at our warehousing sessions, which take place twice a week on Monday 2 – 4.30pm and Wednesday 2 – 4.30pm.  As a warehouse volunteer you will be processing our food donations. This involves labelling, weighing and shelving food. Each warehouse session is led by an experienced Volunteer Warehouse Team Leader. The work will be carried out at our Foodbank Warehouse Session Cabin on the carpark at Tesco on Stratford’s Birmingham Road.

Supermarket collections Volunteer

We are looking for volunteers to go on the Foodbanks list of volunteers collecting food on a weekly basis from collection baskets in supermarkets in Stratford. We would hope volunteers might help once a month. This role will require the use of your own vehicle. Once food is collected it would then be delivered to the Foodbank’s warehouse on the car park at Tesco. This work, most likely, will need to involve daytime commitment, calling in at Waitrose, Tesco or Morrison’s, emptying the food collection basket and delivering food to the warehouse on a Monday or Wednesday afternoon between 2pm – 4pm.
