Foodbank volunteer Jayne Caithness reports on the Foodbank’s attendance at ‘Streets Apart’

10th April 2019

Local playwright Jackie Lines is passionate about the plight of homeless people on our streets and on the 6th and 7th April, her play “Streets Apart” was performed at Stratford Playhouse with the aim of raising awareness about the issue.

She also had the brilliant idea of inviting various charities and agencies to have a small stand in the foyer of the Playhouse and the Foodbank was represented by myself, Wendy Ward, Mairi Macdonald, Anthea Hamilton and Faye Simons. Many in the audience already knew about Stratford Foodbank and others in the area but we met several people who wanted more information about how to volunteer, where to donate food and what to put in all those supermarket baskets. Lots of people, including a representative from one of our referral agencies, told us that the Foodbank is doing a wonderful job and thanked all involved.

We hope to have spread the word just a little bit further and we might even have recruited a couple of new volunteers!
