Triathlon Competitor Wins for Stratford Foodbank

1st August 2019

Ian Ford, husband of foodbank volunteer and trustee, Kim, kindly offered to raise much-needed funds for Stratford Foodbank in a very energetic way on Sunday 21st July. He took part in the Droitwich Triathlon, which covered a 400m pool swim, a 20km cycle ride and a 5km run, and completed the event in 1 hour 28:16, coming 6th in his age category and 132nd out of a total of 204 entrants.

Ian started competing in Triathlon events 4 years ago, when he reached the age of 63, and last completed an event in May, at the Stratford Triathlon. He trains every week and increases the pace a few weeks before an event to ensure that he is ready to take on the demands of the triathlon.

Huge congratulations to Ian on his impressive undertaking and, more importantly, his win for the Foodbank, raising a magnificent £170 plus an additional £40 Gift Aid. All Ian’s sponsorship was donated through JustGiving and is hugely appreciated by everyone involved at the Foodbank. As supporters will know the Foodbank is on the hunt for a new home and is hoping to raise £35k to cover the cost of a potential year’s rental for a yet to be located new building.

We would like to offer our sincere thanks to Ian; not only for his stamina, but also his kindness in helping the Foodbank make a difference to the lives of people and families in the community, many of whom are often in very difficult circumstances.
