Extra-Ordinary Orbit

1st May 2020

We would like to record our very grateful thanks to Orbit, who have been extremely generous in their support for the Foodbank. In these extraordinary times, when our services are even more crucial, operating is far from easy and, as many of you will know, has necessitated us moving to a temporary new home. This move was made so we could continue to serve our families safely, taking into account social distancing measures.

This move has been made easier by Orbit who have given the Foodbank a fantastic donation of £1,500 towards the costs incurred during this Covid-19 pandemic. This money has been vital in not only helping fund relocation to the Methodist Church but also our ongoing service provision during the pandemic. We have had to make many operational adaptations to continue and this very generous donation has eased the burden for us.

Cheryl Flavell, Placemaking and Partnerships Manager Orbit said:

“Orbit is committed to supporting our communities and recognise the vital service being offered by Stratford Foodbank in these difficult times”.

However this isn’t the only thing Orbit have done for the Foodbank in recent weeks. Orbit also awarded the Foodbank a Better Days Grant of £1,600 to purchase a storage container for when we return to our home at Tesco. This crate will be situated next to our warehouse cabin at Tesco and used as very welcome additional food storage space during the winter months.

Marion Homer Foodbank Manager said

“We would like to thank Orbit very much for their generosity. Their support is hugely appreciated and allows us to maintain our vital service during these times, which are difficult for everyone.”
