It’s All Over!

18th May 2020

Massive thanks and admiration go to Ian and Mairi who have successfully completed their £1-a-day challenge and raised a magnificent sum for Stratford Foodbank.

Marion Homer, the Manager, shared her delight saying, ”The Foodbank is incredibly grateful to Mairi and Ian for undertaking this challenge and raising in excess of £1,500 for our charity. Fundraising at this current time is extremely helpful as it enables us to move quickly and adapt to the ever-changing local picture. Both have shown extraordinary commitment to their Foodbank volunteering; like all Foodbank volunteers they are special people who do what they can in the service of their local community”.

Both Mairi and Ian were very glad they were ‘buddying’ up to do the challenge as each of them found it tough going, and at times boring, food-wise. However, it did bring home, quite forcibly, how difficult it is for families to manage on a very meagre budget, especially with children who we know always want what they can’t have, or what their friends have got! Ian and Mairi missed having fruit but found that they could liven up some dishes with the use of herbs and spices.

They would both like to thank everyone who supported them and donated to their challenge so generously. The Justgiving page is open until 31st May, so if you meant to donate and didn’t get around to it, then it’s not too late.
