Warwickshire Scrubbers Help to Protect Volunteers

11th June 2020

Whilst there is no mandatory requirement for our volunteers to wear face masks at our current home at the Methodist church, we now have a supply available for those that would prefer to take extra precautions.

Warwickshire Scrubbers are a group of people from all over the county, including the Royal Shakespeare Company’s costume department, who have banded together – metaphorically – during lockdown and done something useful with their time and their sewing machines. They have made hundreds and hundreds of items of scrubs and protective equipment for hospitals and care homes in the region to help with the national effort of keeping frontline staff protected during the pandemic. Marina, our warehouse co-ordinator has contacts in this wonderful group of people, and they have very kindly donated 120  washable face masks to the Foodbank for our volunteers to use, should they wish to do so.

We are very grateful to the Warwickshire Scrubbers for their dedication to our most important frontline staff and helping to keep them safe, but also, of course, for their kindness in donating the protective wear for our volunteers too, so that those who might otherwise feel uncomfortable volunteering, can feel safer during their shifts. A big thumbs up from the Foodbank to Warwickshire Scrubbers!
