Foodie Awards to Benefit Foodbanks

4th August 2020

As the government initiative “Eat Out to Help Out” rolls out to support the hospitality businesses across the country in the wake of the lockdown easing, we are extremely fortunate to be able to announce that Stratford Foodbank, as well as foodbanks across the Coventry and Warwickshire region, is to be the  recipient of funds raised from a new initiative, The Foodie Awards.

The Foodie Awards are in celebration, recognition and support of the best of the region’s food and drink businesses as they emerge from a very difficult period of their history: lockdown. A further three awards, Food Champion Award,  COVID- 19 Resilience Award and The Godiva Award will acknowledge the extraordinary efforts of businesses and individuals throughout the coronavirus pandemic.

Following a finalists’ event in January, at a venue to yet be decided, judges and public votes will decide on winners in several categories and the first awards will be made in May 2021 at Coventry’s new Telegraph Hotel, which will be opening later this year.

Foodie Awards Founder Jonathan Smith, of Talk Business UK, said: ”This will give a much-needed positive focus for the people in the Food and Drink sector across the region, delivering from farm to fork.

“With so many businesses hit by the direct and knock on effects of lockdown these awards will champion and celebrate the talent, passion, ingenuity and entrepreneurship of all those working so hard to grow, make, bake, brew, cook, host and serve their local communities. This awards program is for all of us to say thank you!”

Entries will open for nominations in a few weeks, but sponsors are invited to get in touch via: [email protected]

Sponsorship packages, which come with a whole host of benefits, are available from just £600 but the organisers would also like to hear from businesses that can offer partnership services.

The Foodie Award project is a result of the combined efforts of Talk Business UK, Coventry BID and Visit Coventry and are being produced in partnership with Warwick based journalist Amanda Chalmers of ChalmersNewsPR and food blogger Ellen Manning, from Rugby.

Stratford Foodbank would like to thank the project creators for their decision to generously donate the fundraising from the Foodie Awards to the Foodbanks across the region. They will certainly be put to very good use in Stratford.
