REVERSE ADVENT CALENDAR 2022

28th October 2022

What is a Reverse Advent Calendar?

A ‘Reverse Advent Calendar’ is a simple concept; instead of a calendar where you open a door to a chocolate or picture, you donate something instead. Each day during advent you put aside a food donation so, by the end of December, you have a collection of goods ready to drop off to your local Foodbank. We are asking our supporters if they wish to collect seasonal items this year as part of their reverse advent, please could they put their donations aside during November, for delivery to the Foodbank before Wednesday 7 December.

Creating a ‘Reverse Advent Calendar’ can be great activity for a family, showing children the importance of helping others at this time of year. It can also be a useful for an office or business to do as an alternative to ‘Secret Santa’, each member of staff donating an item for the ‘Reverse Advent Calendar’ instead.

What do you need to make a ‘Reverse Advent Calendar?

All you need to create a ‘Reverse Advent Calendar’ is a box and a list of suitable items that your local foodbank needs. To help with putting together a ‘Foodbank Reverse Advent Calendar’ we have included an ‘Reverse Advent Calendar’ template with food donation ideas that you could put in your ‘Reverse Advent Calendar’ box.

Donating Christmas/Seasonal Items? by Wednesday 7 December latest please

If you wish to donate Christmas food items to the Foodbank, we would be grateful to receive them by Wednesday 7 December, so we have time to distribute them before Christmas. For a list of Christmas items along we items we are currently short of, please click here. We will still need food donations after 7 December  – it’s just they are likely to be distributed to after Christmas, so seasonal items will be less useful.
