Volunteer

Volunteers are the life blood of foodbanks. Your skills could be just what we need.

These are the roles we are currently recruiting for:

 

1. Food Drive Coordinator

Role purpose:

To organise and coordinate food drives for the foodbank.

The role:

You will work with the volunteer coordinator to create volunteer rotas for instore and for additional warehouse shifts to run food drives. You will monitor slots are full. You will plan the logistics of transport to move donated stock from store to the warehouse and have a coordination role on the day.

Key responsibilities:

  • Be available on the day of the food drive
  • Use the volunteer management platform Assemble, to work with the volunteer coordinator to create a rota for the food drive instore and for various warehouse shifts
  • Support all communications that go out about the food drive
  • Coordinate the logistics of transport to move stock from the supermarket to the warehouse
  • Set up and set down the food drive
  • Attend at change of shift at the food drive

Hours expected:

Food drives happen on average twice in a three month period. Dates are not fixed although we always have a three day food drive in Tesco on the first weekend of December. Food drives operate between 9am-5pm with setting up/down time either end of the day. Prep for a food drive would be approximately 4 hours.   Availability to respond to urgent queries would also be useful.

2. Photographer/Videographer

We need an experienced photographer and videographer who is able to capture the  Foodbank in action to update our website and social media channels. Essentially this can be an ad hoc volunteering role or a one off.

Experience in photography and videography and the ability to upload material is essential. Understanding and experience of producing social media reels etc.

 

3. Health and Safety Coordinator

Your role is to support the Foodbank in monitoring and reviewing measures in place to minimise health and safety risks and accidents. You must be a positive advocate for health and safety at work and be a point of contact for volunteers/employees on H&S topics. We want you to carry out a program of health and safety inspections across all sites and support with carrying our risk assessments.

Having experience in H&S in warehousing or a public interface environment would be advantageous.

 

4. Warehouse Lead

You will oversee and lead a small group of warehouse support volunteers as they process food donations. This involves directing volunteers to label, weigh and shelve food. You will open up the warehouse, brief the volunteers and meticulously weigh in our donations. You will also need to complete housekeeping tasks to make sure our warehouse stays tidy.

5. Delivery Drivers

Enjoy driving, have your own car and a UK drivers license?

We’re looking for committed and caring people to help us deliver food parcels! You must be able to volunteer for at least one session a fortnight on a Tuesday or Friday lunchtime between 1PM and 3PM and be physically able to load and unload shopping bags from the car.

Food parcels are collected from the foodbank warehouse (CV37 6QY) at 1PM. We deliver to a wide geographical area within the Stratford District, going north as far as Henley, south to Admington, east to Loxley and west to the Worcestershire/Warwickshire borders. For safety reasons we always work in pairs, so couples are also welcome to volunteer together or even volunteer with a friend! Mileage covered at 45 pence per mile.
